CANE BINDING
Same material as traditional caning, but thicker and attaches around rungs or a removable frame
Traditional New England Porch weave is the best bet for chairs and rockers that will be used on covered porches, but are also often used indoors as well. This weave gives a bit more than Herringbone. Padded seats are not an option with this weave as there are spaces that allow the weave to breathe.
While this is the best bet weave for use outdoors, care must be taken to make sure it is not kept in intense sunlight or left wet and damp- both will drastically shorten the lifespan. This weave is most famously seen on John F Kennedy's rocker used in the Oval Office to help with his back issues- prompting similar rockers to be called "Kennedy Rockers". |
