Before: Bad caning job done on the seat

After: New and corrected hand caning seat
Here are the before and afters of the Lincoln rocker from the last blog entry. It was brought to me to have a new seat woven. The faulty seat was woven within the last year by another caner and was done incorrectly causing the cane to pull out. Here is what I did differently to do the job right.

Original post HERE
Picture
Before: Loose and incorrect cane size, an entire vertical row missing on the right, too small binding, no anchoring pegs for the corners
Picture
After: Tight and secured caning, correct caning size, vertical row added on the right, correct size binding to cover and finish the holes, peg in the corner to secure binding and to finish the seat

Picture
Before: Loose loops under the seat, strands left unfinished and unsecured, twists in the caning making it susceptible to breakage. These issues caused the seat to pull out when sat on.
Picture
After: tight and neat loops under the seat and all stands secured. This seat is now ready for years of use.
