Personal Project: Other Baby Things

Early this past fall, while the weather was still good, my husband and I set up our handy 10'x10' tent in the back yard and got to work on some projects for Baby's nursery.
I believe I was about 5 months pregnant and feeling great! All painting was done outdoors with many breaks.

One of my favorite transformations was my midcentury modern buffet I have had since graduate school- a good sanding, some primer, and new knobs and it is now Baby's dresser/changing table!

Sewing Projects:

The family heirloom bassinet (transformation here) now has a table base painted to match and a new Good Night Moon printed insert pad.
All of the fabric I used for the insert and following quilts is from Sew To Speak right here in the Clintonville-Beechwold area.

My late Grandma "Hotsie"'s sewing machine has gotten a good work out making the bassinet insert above and piecing baby quilts. She made many clothes for me on this machine over the years - many of which my mother saved and gave to me for Baby to wear!

I hand quilted (even on our camping trip!) and hand bound Baby's autumn/winter play quilt. The backing is super soft and warm Buffalo Plaid flannel.

Next Up:

A little rags-to-riches garage sale find rocker that got put back together and painted to match her nursery furniture- it will get a smoked splint seat. And what does one do when one is 2 weeks from their due date? Start another quilt of course! My assistant Bruna is multitasking- taking a nap and holding down the quilt pieces for Baby's spring/summer play quilt.
